The Alexander McQueen show Savage Beauty just opened at the Met and is simply fantastic. McQueen's talent is that rare kind that makes you realize that most of what passes for good in our lives is actually less than mediocre. I couldn't find images of some of my favorite pieces but what follows is more than exemplary. The show is up till July 31st.
I have to add that I find almost everything about the fashion world pretty loathsome. Although as Bill Cunningham points out in the wonderful new documentary about him, "Fashion is the armour to survive the reality of everyday life. I don’t think you could do away with it. It would be like doing away with civilization."
